About

I wasn't always Determined, Evolving, or Driven.

Long ago, I was living life and going through the motions.
Married, kids, and had a job which kept me comfortable. As it happens all to often in life, it all fell apart. I was so consumed with skiing through life happy-go-lucky, I didn't notice it all falling apart. One moment, I was sharing a nice evening at home with my family, the next I woke up from a drunken stupor surrounded by everything that I hadn't pushed away. Empty alcohol containers and half eaten take out. Confused, lost, and empty. I had officially lost it all....
Like a splash of cold water to the face, this realization was the wake-up call I so desperately needed. Its time for a lifestyle change.

In this moment, only one question matters: "What do I do now?"

Change your habits,  overcome your addictions
As we go throughout our day, we make decisions. Those decisions form our habits, our habits are the driving force behind the systems that we take for granted. The system I once "voted" for in my daily actions, gave me results of addiction, manipulation, and anything to either get me through being seen, or fed the aforementioned addictions. This realization and the many podcasts I listened to while under the influence or not led me to believe I could actually chose a different system to vote for. I started making better decisions, which led to better systems, and helping me to overcome addictions to alcohol and apathy. The increased self esteem from my new habit of owning my mornings is the key to overall self improvement.

After listening to podcast after podcast and the genre shifted from whatever made me laugh to whatever makes me think. Some of my early favorites were "The Joe Rogan Experience" and his usual guests of like minded comedians getting stoned and ranting on about life and what makes them laugh.  Over the years my interests strayed a bit to guests about comedy & UFO's to psychology to neuroscience and currently gaining wisdom in comparing Bible scripture with quotes and ideas from ancient philosophy, quotes from prominent figures, and ideas from eastern philosophy.

Win your mornings, win the day!
Listening to "Huberman Lab" podcast by Dr. Andrew Huberman, I learned the best way to wake your brain up. Things like hydration, deep breathing, exercise, and sunlight early in the morning enhances energy, mood, and cognitive function, while activating the brain's stress-reduction systems and improving overall mental and physical well-being. Stimulating neurotransmitter release, increases blood flow, and promotes a state of calmness, setting a positive foundation for the day ahead.

There will always be a soft spot in my heart for dumb jokes and idiotic banter.
This is a different person standing now. I have a different purpose, to defeat what wants to defeat us. Everyday you stand before two people, the one who grabs a beer for breakfast and tacks for snacks; or the one who wants whatever is different. We want different. We burn the rescue boats, we burn bridges because we aren't going back to what destroys us. We are better. We demand more.

We are Determined, Evolving, & Driven.
